Good news

Hep B can be treated by doctors with a couple of doses of medication IF you get there fast enough. No guarantees though.

Bad news

If not treated, Hep B may cause serious liver damage and even death.

How does it look if you got it

If you catch Hep B, you will have:

  • Jaundice.- Your skin or the whites of the eyes turn yellow, and your pee turns brown or orange.)
  • Light-coloured poop
  • Fever
  • Fatigue that persists for weeks or months
  • Stomach trouble like loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting
  • Belly pain

What to do

If you think you’ve caught Hep B, run to a doctor as soon as possible. The earlier you get special treatment, the better. Doctor will give you a vaccine and a special shot of Hep B. This shot boosts your immune system and helps it fight off the infection.

What NOT to do

Do not have sex with others. Do not share bed, underwear or other clothing with others. Do not share cups, plates and cutlery with others.

Things to watch out for

One can get some other infections via kissing. The chances are low though. The best thing is to speak to a doctor or a nurse.
