Genital Warts

Good news

There are ways to keep Genital Warts under control.

Bad news (not too bad)

Genital warts stay forever – they cannot be treated completely.

How does it look if you got it

Genital warts look like small cauliflowers. On males may appear on the following areas:

  • penis
  • scrotum
  • groin
  • thighs
  • inside or around the anus

For females, these warts may appear:

  • inside of the vagina or anus
  • outside of the vagina or anus
  • on the cervix

Genital warts may also appear on the lips, mouth, tongue, or throat of a person who has had oral sexual contact with a person who has genital warts in a first place.

What to do

See your GP or a nurse.

What NOT to do

Do not have sex with others until you hear advice from the doctor. Do not buy self-treatment stuff for hand warts – that may cause problems.
