Good news
Chlamydia can be treated by doctors with a single dose of medication – an antibiotic.
Bad news
If not treated, Chlamydia may cause impotence, infertility, chronic infection and even death.
How does it look if you got it?
Sometimes, Chlamydia does not cause any symptoms. It means you may feel nothing wrong for years.
- pain or burning while peeing.
- pain during sex.
- lower belly pain.
- abnormal vaginal discharge (may be yellowish and have a strong smell)
- bleeding between periods.
- pus or a watery/milky discharge from the penis.
- swollen or tender testicles.
What to do
Run to your nearest GP or a Community Nurse or STD Community clinic. Google those words for a clinic near you. You need to be tested. It is easy to get tested. A doctor will need a small amount of your pee.
What NOT to do
Do not have sex with others. Do not share bed, underwear or other clothing with others. Do not share cups, plates and cutlery with others.
Things to watch out for
One can get some other infections via kissing. The chances are low, though. The best thing is to speak to a doctor or a nurse.
